Life threatening situation? Always call 112

How does the GP emergency office work?

If you call the GP emergency office, an experienced doctor’s assistant will answer the phone. She asks you what the complaint is. She also asks you about your medication use and your insurance details. Make sure you have it handy. Please also bring your ID to the GP office. This is mandatory and can be requested. The assistant can (depending on your complaint)

:
  • give advice without talking to the doctor yourself. This concerns complaints that may wait medically until you can see your own doctor. However, all advice is carefully checked by the doctor on duty in the mail within one hour (self-care
  • advice)
  • ask if the doctor will call you back (telephone consultation)
  • make an appointment for you at the GP emergency office (consultation)
  • ensure that a doctor comes to your home (visit)
